Sac Roi What?!?!?

So my job mainly consist of me sitting...a lot! Lately I've been experiencing tightness in my lower back/hip area. I tried different chairs, sitting in different positions, stretching the area and walking when it got really tight. It didn't bother me enough to see a doctor and honestly I didn't know what doctor I would need to see for this.

Do I see my regular practitioner? She would only refer me to someone else.
Do I see a chiropractor? The pain is not the spine itself but to the side of it. Does the back doctor treats things 'to the side'?
Do I see a massage therapist? Because it's tight in the area so maybe there's a knot somewhere?

During Easter weekend Brandon and I spent the day at the Zoo. At the end of the day that same area was so tight it was painful. So the pain was progressing from sitting for long periods of time to walking for long periods of time. Than last weekend it finally made an appearance on a simple 3 mile run!

Luckily I was with my running group and when I mentioned the pain they all knew what doctor I needed to see - an orthopedist!

So I made my appointment, met with the doctor and got the proper diagnoses - sacroiliitis

It's when the joint between the hip and lower back is inflamed.

So what's the fix? This weekend I'll begin with 800 mg of ibuprofen THREE times a day for a WHOLE week! Good grief I might not have a liver at the end of this but hopefully I'll be back to sitting, walking, and running without pain. And if the ibuprofen doesn't knock out the pain then they will inject the ligament using needles and x-rays. Yeah let's pray the inflammation goes down because needles in that area doesn't sound good!

I liked the title to your post!!Glad your visit to the doc told you what was going on. Hopefully the ibuprofen will work wonders. From what you described it sounds like the same thing I have. My doc wanted to shoot me up right away but I'm staying away from a needle in that area! I'll have to ask about the heavy doses of ibuprofen. Your Dad says it just my old age! Feel better soon!
