Back in August we had Yul Kwon come and speak to us about diversity. Of course I was hoping he would share some stories about his experience on Survivor. In case you're wondering...he won Survivor: Cook Island. Now you're probably asking yourself...what season was that? You may not remember the season but I bet you'll remember the controversy. Cook Island was the season where the tribes were split according to the person's ethnicity.
When I heard about it I wondered if they would include Native American? Of course they didn't...hard when you're minority among minorities!
Anyways...he shared a lot about his experience on Survivor - the auditions, the challenges, the atmosphere, tribal council and eventually winning. He also shared his commitment to get other people to register on the National Marrow Donor Program - http://www.marrow.org/ The promise came after his roommate was diagnosed with Leukemia. His roommate eventually passed away but his commitment to get others registered to become bone marrow donors hasn't. (In case you're wondering...yes I'm registered)
I share all this because it made me wonder. If I had the opportunity to share a passion or a commitment....what would it be?
It's been almost 3 weeks since Yul spoke and I'm still pondering....
Oh in case you're wondering who the other fellow in the picture is...that's Ted Rogers from Survivor: Thailand.
